Meet The Team

Sue Dunn - Company Director

History

As Co-Director of Overland Underwater I run the York and Harrogate shops along with Steve. I started diving back in 1991 with the British Sub Aqua Club and have dived extensively in this country and abroad. I joined PADI in 1999 and qualified as an Open Water Scuba Instructor. In March 2001 we opened our York Centre and diving became a full time career for me, which was a bit of a change to my previous career as a biologist. In March 2002 I qualified as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer, an IDC Staff Instructor in March 2003, Master Instructor in May 2005 and Course Director in July 2006. I can teach 16 PADI specialties at both diver and instructor level and am an Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer. All these years later, I still love diving as much as ever and find nothing more rewarding than introducing others to the sport that I love and training others to become instructors. You will find me in one of the shops most days, or out and about training, and when I get the chance pleasure diving.

Charlotte Castle - Instructor

History

I was first introduced to scuba diving by my husband who as a teenager had learned with BSAC but decided to start training with PADI. I was intrigued by the notion of visiting the underwater world and after talking to my husband’s instructor I decided to join the next Open Water Course they were running and instantly took to it.

After this it was a thirst for knowledge and experience that drove me to go on to do that Advanced Open Water Course. Knowing how many more courses there were available to us we decided to do the Rescue Driver Course so that in the event of something happening we would know that either one of us would be able to rescue and care for the other and any other person who may be in trouble.

Shortly after we were asked by Pro-Dive Scuba Centre if we would like to join there intern program for becoming a Dive Master and we instantly accepted as we had had a lot of fun attending the classes and pool sessions and we loved joining in the weekend diving activities and helping out the new divers that had joined that we had gotten to know through our club.

I had always wanted to become a teacher but in the past I had never followed through as I had made different decisions through school, college and university so to become a PADI instructor would incorporate both of the things that I love to do.

I still have a thirst to expand my knowledge and expertise and after becoming and OWSI I would like to continue on training to progress further and achieving the goals I set for myself.

Qualifications

Open Water Scuba Instructor, Emergency First Response Instructor.
Greg Castle - Instructor

History

I started diving with BSAC in 1997, however after a couple of years gave up due to a change of interests.  After a long abstinence of doing any proper diving I got talking to a PADI divemaster at a hotel on honeymoon in Crete and my interest in diving was reignited and I was determined to get back into it. That was in 2010 and I’ve never looked back since. I decided to start from the basics again and completed my open water in 2011 and then jumped straight onto the next advanced. In 2013 I became an OWSI instructor and joined the ranks of Overland Underwater.  Not only is diving an enjoyable hobby you get to meet lots of new people, and hopefully inspire them do more diving. There is a warning to anyone diving with me however, you won’t have chance to be in the water before me if there are turtles or rays in the area!!!
