PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver

What is it?

Whether you’ve just completed your PADI Junior Open Water Diver course or have many logged dives, PADI’s Junior Advanced Open Water Diving program gives you the confidence, skills and experience to take your diving to the next level. You will fine tune your dive skills, meet new dive buddies and gain confidence as you explore the many special dive activities this program offers.

The course is structured to give you the flexibility to tailor the course to your particular areas of interest as you choose to complete the dives that interest you. As a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver you will be qualified to dive to 21 metres. Once you reach 15 your qualification will automatically be upgraded to the Advanced Open Water Diver and you will be able to dive to 30 metres.

Who can take part?

To enrol on the PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver course you must have the PADI Junior Open Water Diver qualification or equivalent qualification from another organisation.

What does the course involve?

To obtain the PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver qualification you will complete five adventure dives. The underwater navigation and deep adventure dives are compulsory. You then select three further dives from a list including dry suit, multilevel, night, peak performance buoyancy, search and recovery, underwater naturalist, digital underwater photography and wreck.

You review the relevant chapters of the Adventures in Diving Manual for the dives that you have selected and complete the knowledge review prior to completing the dives. If you select the drysuit dive, a drysuit orientation will be conducted in the pool prior to open water training at no extra cost.

How long will it take?

The dives are normally conducted over two Sundays at Capernwray. Options for completing the course dive by dive are also available. If completing a drysuit adventure dive you will also complete a pool training session. There will be some home study.
