PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver

What is it?

Buoyancy is the most important skill you can master when scuba diving. Good buoyancy will give you a better position in the water, you will use less air and feel more comfortable and relaxed while underwater. You will be able to get near to the reef without worrying that you will crash into it and damage sensitive aquatic life, you will get longer underwater and see more on each and every dive. Good buoyancy is not difficult, but it takes a little work. The Peak Performance Buoyancy course is just what you need to take your buoyancy skills to the next level.

Who can take part?

Anyone who is qualified as a PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver or holds an equivalent qualification from another organisation can complete the Peak Performance Buoyancy Speciality

What does the course involve?

During the course you will learn about:

  • How to trim your scuba gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water
  • Nuances in determining weight so you’re not too light nor too heavy by even a slight degree
  • How to streamline to save air and move smoothly through the water
  • How to hover effortlessly in both a vertical position and a horizontal position

You will complete a pool training session during which we will review your basic buoyancy skills, followed by two open water dives. You will review key buoyancy concepts by watching the Peak Performance Buoyancy DVD and completing the knowledge review.

How long will it take?

There will be one pool training session either on a Thursday or Friday night. The two open water dives will normally be completed in a single day.
