Advanced open water diver

What is it?
Whether you’ve just completed your PADI Open Water Diver course or have many logged dives, PADI’s Advanced Open Water Diving program gives you the confidence, skills and experience to take your diving to new levels of excitement. You will fine tune your dive skills, meet new dive buddies and gain confidence as you explore the many special dive activities this program offers.

The course is structured to give you the flexibility to tailor the course to your particular areas of interest.

It’s quick and easy for you to make the next move. To get your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification, begin by going over course materials in the comfort of your own home. Then meet with your instructor for a brief review and complete five adventure dives over a single weekend.

Who can take part?
To enrol on the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course you must have the PADI Open Water Diver qualification or equivalent qualification from another organisation. Divers between the ages of 10 and 15 will receive the Junior Advanced Open Water Diver qualification.

What does the course involve?
To obtain the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver qualification you will complete five adventure dives. Underwater Navigation and Deep adventure dives are compulsory. You then select the other three dives, in conjunction with your instructor from the following list: Boat dive, Drift dive, Dry suit dive, Multilevel dive, Night dive, Peak Performance Buoyancy dive, Search and Recovery dive, Underwater Naturalist dive, Underwater Photography dive, Wreck dive.

You will receive a copy of the Adventures in Diving Crew Pack when you enrol on the course. You will then review the relevant chapters for the dives that you have selected and will complete a knowledge review for each dive.

For those people who have not dived in a drysuit before, a drysuit orientation will be conducted in the pool prior to open water training at no extra cost.

The course will take place over a single weekend during which you will review the knowledge reviews with your instructor and complete the five dives.

How long will it take?
The dives are normally conducted over two Sundays at Capernwray. Options for completing the course dive by dive are also available.
There will be some home study prior to the weekend.

How do I book a course?
We have courses running regularly throughout the year. To book your place on the next course all we need is a £50 deposit. You will also need to get the course materials prior to commencing the course.

You can either call in the shop to pay your deposit and collect the course materials, or simply ring us quoting your credit card number and we can post out the course materials to you (postage charged at cost).
