The Science of Diving course is a comprehensive dive education program designed to cover every aspect of scuba diving. This course includes topics like dive equipment, diving physics, diving physiology, diving techniques, and diving planning. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned diver, this course is a great way to learn more about the science behind the sport.

TRAINING PROCESS

The Science of Diving Speciality course provides an in-depth exploration of dive theory.

 

  • Physics:

    • Understand the principles governing buoyancy, pressure, gas laws, and how they apply to diving.

  • Physiology:

    • Learn about the human body’s response to pressure, gas absorption, and decompression sickness.

  • Decompression Theory:

    • Explore the science behind dive tables, dive computers, and safe ascent profiles.

  • Aquatic Environment:

    • Gain insights into marine ecosystems, currents, tides, and environmental conservation.

  • Diving Equipment:

    • Study the functionality and maintenance of scuba gear.

 

This specialty is required training for most SSI Dive Professional programs, as well as some Extended Range programs. By completing this course, you’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of the underwater world and its effects on the human body. It’s an essential way to expand your dive knowledge and prepare for a dive professional career.

 

Whether you’re aiming to become a Divemaster, an Assistant Instructor, or an Open Water Instructor, the Science of Diving Specialty lays the foundation for your exciting journey in the world of scuba diving!

Become a pro

Start on the path to becoming a pro with the Dive Guide course from there you can continue your career by becoming a Divemaster and then further qualify as an Assistant Instructor. Alternatively, combine your training by joining an Assistant Instructor and Instructor Training Course (ITC) to graduate as an Open Water Instructor now. Becoming a scuba instructor is just the beginning of an exciting career pathway.
