Different Certification, Same Ocean: Why It's Time for Your Scuba Skills Update

The ocean doesn’t care what logo is printed on your certification card. Whether your card is blue, red, green, or grey, the water feels exactly the same. Beneath the surface, we all breathe the same compressed air, clear our masks using the same basic physics, and share the exact same fascination with the underwater world. At our core, we are all just divers—and with summer here, we all need to stay sharp.

A Community Beyond the Badges

We are proud to be an SSI Training Centre, but our primary mission is simple: we want to get people diving. Training agencies are excellent for structuring education and maintaining high safety standards, but they should never act as a barrier to community.

If you learnt to dive with SDI, BSAC, RAID, PADI, CMAS, or any other agency, you are always welcome here. You can train with us, cross your education over, join our trips, or just come along to use the facilities. Our weekly pool sessions are open to any certified diver who wants to keep their skills sharp, test out some new gear, or hang out with like-minded people.

We don't care about the brand of your certification card. We care about your safety, your confidence, and your passion for the sport.

Is Your Scuba Gear Gathering Dust?

With summer finally arriving, holiday season is officially upon us. If you are packing your bags for a tropical getaway, or planning some weekend trips closer to home, there is one critical thing you need to check before you pack your fins: your logbook.

If it has been more than six months since your last dive, you need to brush up on your skills before leaping off a dive boat. Skills fade when they aren't used, and the middle of the ocean is the wrong place to realise you’ve forgotten how to quickly clear a flooded mask or find a displaced regulator.

Two Simple Steps to Get Water-Ready

Our Scuba Skills Update program makes refreshing your knowledge completely stress-free. It is split into two straightforward parts:

  • At-Home Digital Learning: You will begin with digital resources that review essential theoretical knowledge like pre-dive safety checks, controlled ascents, and dive physics. You can complete this online at your own pace from the comfort of your sofa.

  • In-Water Pool Practice: Once you have completed the theory, you will join us for a practical session to get your fins wet.

Shake Off the Rust at The Mount School on Wednesday Evenings

We host these relaxed, low-pressure pool sessions every single week on Wednesday evenings at our fantastic facilities at The Mount School in York.

You can even book guidance from our professional team, where you will practice fundamental skills like mask clearing, regulator retrieval, and air-sharing techniques. We will help ensure you feel 100% confident before your next big holiday dive.

Don't wait until you are standing on a dive boat to wish you had practised. Spaces fill up fast, so secure your spot today and get your dive season started.
